Encounter with a Pop Songstress

Ilonggo singer, Sheila Barrios was recently interviewed for a thesis documentary project by Mary Rose Burdan, a graduating Mass Communication student from the West Visayas State University. She got interested with Sheila and her Ilonggo songs who got popular in local FM radio all over Western Visayas since 2010. Sheila will be her topic for her important thesis that would tackle the life and dreams of a simple Ilongga girl who instantly got popular with her relevant Ilonggo love songs. Sheila enjoyed pouring her heart in any interview she did.

Ilongga Divas 4ever!

Just another look back on the Ilongga Divas live performance of their English single SAY at Dinagyang Festival 2012. This January 2013, the young divas are reuniting once again to shoot the official music video of SAY and released it a month after. The music video will reunite Ilongga pop songstress Sheila Barrios, young diva in-the-making Irish D. and sexy diva Cherry Callao. After their successful events and performance last 2011-2012, the trio of Ilongga artists will once again join forces to collaborate for a possible second single with a new addition to the group, Cindy Bernardo. With a possibility of Sheila's moving to Los Angeles, USA this year to continue her studies there, Cindy might replace Sheila to complete the Ilongga Divas trio once again. For now, enjoy listening to their song and beautiful voices.

Looking Back: Sheila @ Ilonggo Music Awards

Sheila proved her talent in music and growing popularity in the Ilonggo music scene in 2010 when she was nominated as Best Female Artist in the 1st Ilonggo Music Awards. The event was organized by ABS-CBN Iloilo and M.O.R. 91.1 FM to showcase and patronize the talents of Ilonggo music artists in the local recording scene. For Sheila, her hit single "Ginpalangga" was the reason behind her unexpected nomination. The winners were determined through text voting through M.O.R. 91.1 listeners. All the nominated artists performed during the live Performance Night at Jaq's Bar in Smallville Complex in December 15, 2010. Sheila performed a mash-up of her hit songs "Ginpalangga" and "Sa Handum Na Guid Lang." The awarding of winners was held at Robinson's Place a week later.  Being nominated and recognized for her talent in music through this event was already a great honor for Sheila who worked hard to maintain her love for singing. Her entrance to the local music scene was unexpected but it was a worthwhile journey that brought a lot of blessings and luck. Today, she's happy looking back for the all the great things that happened to her life, she continue to grow as an artist and inspired a lot of Ilonggo youth.
