Sheila performs “Aton Manggad” @ Sinadya sa Suba 2011

With the rising popularity of “Aton Manggad,” the newly-declared official theme song of Iloilo River Festival “Sinadya sa Suba,” Sheila Barrios together with other Ilonggo artists Irish D. Mz. JT, Zpinx Angel, Mix Ilonggo Crew, Stan of All Out Kingz and Ezzy of SYK Unit performed the song live in the evening of May 21 at Trenas Boulevard in Boardwalk, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

The Ilonggo artists opened the “Konsyerto sa Suba” event in front of thousands Ilonggo spectators who enjoyed and were heartfelt inspired by the positive message of the song for Iloilo River. The song is written by RSLPhoenix, arrangement and music composition by Zpinx Angel and 5 Shots of Mix Ilonggo Crew. The song also featured the voice of Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog in the intro. The city’s dynamic mayor present during the performance proudly stand and waved his hand to the crowd as he listen to his part of the song. ABS-CBN hosts that sponsored the event were excited to ask the Ilonggo artists how they were able to create the song and what inspired them.

“Our song has only 3 topics—love, preservation and protection for our Iloilo River. We hope the message reached the hearts of Ilonggos,” says Zpinx Angel who co-produced the song.

“Iloilo River is our city’s important treasure; it plays a big role in our culture, history and economy. So, we hope our song will inspire young people to get inspired by our song,” explains Sheila Barrios. The song will soon have a music video, a full independent album with original songs and will be posted in the internet to continue the advocacy for Iloilo River. It is also the theme song of “Run for Iloilo River,” a special project of JCI Metro Iloilo Dinagyang last May 7, 2011 and released in selected Iloilo and Bacolod City FM stations earlier this month.
