SYK Unit, All Out Kingz and Ilonggo 3nity visits The Morning Show

Three groups, three beats, two causes, one dream, one voice... Ilonggo music artists together as one. Ilonggo rap groups SYK Unit, All Out Kingz and vocal pop group Ilonggo 3nity gathered for the first time to celebrate Ilonggo music for a future event to come last September 20, 2010 at Star Cable’s The Morning Show hosted by Jun Cortel. These Ilonggo music artists have been doing a big reawakening of Ilonggo music for the past months.

In the case of SYK Unit, this is just a big and explosive comeback in the local music scene with a new vigor, energy and drive. They were making music for the past decade through rap and able to inspire young people to use the Hiphop culture to entertain people. This year, SYK Unit is back better than ever with a mix of RnB beat through their latest release “Storya Paghigugma,” written and performed by a comeback member, Clifford with collaboration from old members. Headed by Sayken Snipes, this group assures every one that hiphop music is simply an artistic expression and a tool for young people to appreciate life better. SYK Unit is not a myth. In fact, they already carved a name for themselves as champions of many rap events in Iloilo and other places. What they have right now is recapturing that drive and passion again to make it new, better and stronger reason to make more music, pure hiphop Ilonggo music to be specific.

All Out Kingz is a newborn rap group last August but their drive and musicality is inspiring. With four members Kudafie, Chaiz, Stan and female vocalist Mz. JT coming from Youth For Christ (YFC) ministry, the group used their experiences in life and transformed it as music. Their song “Changes” is proof of their passion. They have more catchy Ilonggo rap songs to record soon including the head-blowing song “Ilonggo Para sa Ilongga.” rslphoenix music, their management team is giving them massive promotion to boost their music. On the show, they performed “Ano Bala?,” their possible track to have a music video soon to be shot at Savannah.

Ilonggo 3nity is a merging of three multi-talented young Ilonggo singers such as RnB singer Reyn Callao, songstress Sheila Barrios and dance diva Cherry Callao. Though they already have solo singles played in FM stations, they group is about creating a pop music image as a trio. Their latest single “Badtrip” is intentionally not a pop remake (of Lady Gaga’s hit) but a statement or a declaration of artistry, vocal flexibility and rebirth for local pop. Both members are all songwriters and they are eager to record their original materials soon. In the meantime, Sheila performed a possible track from her upcoming solo album entitled “Sa Handum Na Guid Lang.”

Jun Cortel, the show’s host interviewed the groups and unlock their stories how they were able to become music artists singing in Ilonggo dialect. The show became their venue to reveal their future plan of organizing a series of mall shows in Iloilo City with a timely concept of promoting “Dengue Awareness and Prevention.” Though they have no tentative date but they declared that sometime in October would be the best time to kick-off the event. It is an event that combines the significant elements of Ilonggo rap, pop, hiphop, dance and provide solution to the threatening epidemic health issues that Iloilo City is experiencing right now. They believe that Ilonggo music will be their tool to send important message to their fellow youth and use it for social-civic causes.

Finally, before the show ended, an all-star Ilonggo music artists theme song of The Morning Show was performed by SYK Unit, All Out Kingz and Ilonggo 3nity. Soon, an official music video is on its way to be shot.

You can watch the replay of The Morning Show episode at Star Cable this week every 10:30am and 7:30pm.
