Battle Mania Philippines Iloilo City to explode in Dinagyang 2011

Battle Mania Philippines is now in Iloilo. For the first time, the phenomenon of Hip-hop culture that originated in Southern Bronx of New York City in the USA since 1970s is here in the city of love. The event will capture and emphasize the true meaning of Hip-hop culture by combining its cultural pillars—Beatboxing, Graffiti, DJing, Break Dancing and MCing. Battle Mania Iloilo is a brainchild of Bacolod-based event organizer, Patrick Bucabal and Paramour Sifee Production, Critical Breakdown Organization in cooperation with Jaro Agro-Industrial and Charity Fair and Association of Brgy. Captains-Jaro Chapter on January 21, 2010 at Jaro Covered Gym from 6 p.m. onwards. This one-of-a-kind event recognized internationally is a gathering of some of the best in hip-hop culture enthusiasts uniting, bonding and connecting their talents and passion. Battle Mania Iloilo is one of the highlights of 2011 Iloilo Dinagyang Festival and a kick-off event for the annual Jaro Agro-Industrial and Charity Fair.

The event includes B-boying (break dancing) competition participated in by dancers from different provinces and international representatives. The winner in B-boying competition will represent Iloilo in the national level. Iloilo City b-boy dancers will also have a showdown with Bacolod City representatives. Another exciting competition is the individual Freestyle Rap Battle that would gather the finest hip-hop rappers in Iloilo City who will compete for the championship title. The winner will represent Iloilo City for the Freestyle Rap Battle in Manila.

Ilonggo rap groups such as SYK Unit, Paramour Sifee, Southsyd Souljaz, All Out Kingz together with Ilonggo pop singers Sheila Barrios and Reyn Callao will entertain the crowd for a non-stop musical performances. Finally, Iloilo’s top show band Kreonz will provide live dance music for the crowd. The event will also have an audio-visual presentations, food festival, product samplings and giveaways from sponsors. As the heart of the event, proceeds of Battle Mania Iloilo is for the benefit of Sagrado Alternative Evening School and Jaro Agro-Industrial and Charity Fair. The event is presented and sponsored by Coca-cola, GMA TV-6, Ginebra San Miguel, Campus Radio, Malones Printing Press, Camella Iloilo, Beauty Dynamics Facial Care Center, Villa Sagrado, Panay News and Sykwrecords.


Sheila prepares for Battle Mania Philippines

Sheila Barrios is up for a new challenge as she perform live in the first-ever pure Hip-hop culture event in the city of love—Battle Mania Philippines Iloilo City this coming January 21, 2011, 6PM onwards at Jaro Covered Gym. The event is a gathering of the best and most enthusiastic hip-hop lovers, artists and practitioners. The event features B-boy (break dance) competitions from all over the region and freestyle rap battle from the best rappers.

Sheila is the only female Ilonggo music artist to perform onstage in this first all hip-hop event in Iloilo. She will perform her massively hit Ilonggo song “Ginpalangga” exclusively played at Campus Radio 93.5 that put her on top as the most requested Ilonggo song in Iloilo. She will also perform her second single “Sa Handum Na Guid Lang” now a certified smash hit in Bacolod City FM stations. After the Iloilo leg of Battle Mania Philippines, Sheila will also take part in the Antique and Capiz leg this summer. Bacolod-based B-boy dancers and music artists are also taking part in the event such as Zaril, Poy6100, Izumi Frias and Critical Breakdown B-boys.

Sheila & Ilonggo 3nity explodes in All Out Ilonggos

With the recent renaissance of Ilonggo music in 2010, the pride for Ilonggo pop culture is continuing in 2011 and beyond. In time for the most-awaited cultural celebration in the Philippines—the Dinagyang Festival--- rising Ilonggo music artists are set to entertain in the evening of January 22 at Iloilo Capitol Grounds with “All Out Ilonggos.” The non-stop musical event feature the independent album launching of the most promising Ilonggo rap group, All Out Kingz composed of Kudafie, Stan, Chaiz and female vocalist Mz. JT. All four members are involved in the Youth For Christ organization that inspired them to compose their first smash hit single “Changes” played both in Iloilo and Bacolod FM stations. Their second single “Anu Bala?” soon to have a music video is another potential Ilonggo rap song. Their 12-track album entitled “Ilonggo Para Sa Ilongga” is a fresh, dynamic and emotional journey of four young people searching for the true meaning of life, love and passion for culture.

Another Ilonggo pride is the Ilonggo 3nity composed of R&B sensation Reyn Callao, pop songstress Sheila Barrios and Cherry Callao. Reyn and Sheila are both nominated for Best Male and Female Artists at the first Ilonggo Music Awards 2010 of ABS-CBN Iloilo. Their first group single “Badtrip” together with their solo singles “Sa Handum Na Guid Lang,” “Bahala Ka Na,” and “Ikaw Guid Lang” were discovered in a social networking site by an Ilonggo part time DJ in Rockhampton City, Queensland, Australia and played in Radio For U 98.5 FM every Sunday afternoon since last year. Their songs were the first-ever Ilonggo songs played in an Australian radio station.

Unifying their talents, dream and passion to entertain, both groups will perform their music and will give away free CD sample of their songs during the show. Guest Ilonggo music artists of the event include SYK Unit, Paramour Sifee, Zpinx Angel of Mix Ilonggo Crew and the newest Ilongga diva—Irish D. The event is organized by RSLPHOENIX Music and itravel Philippines in cooperation with Iloilo Provincial Tourism Office. Sheila and Reyn were both invited to be guest artists during the 5th Founding Anniversary and Mr. & Ms. ABE International 2010 held at Iloilo grand Hotel last November 27, 2010. She performed her hit Ilonggo songs "Ginpalangga" and "Sa Handum Na Guid Lang." Two weeks after their performance, they were invited again to perform at ABE's HRM inter-school event at DepEd Social Hall.

Sheila’s 1st 2011 Show: A Day To Remember Pop Singing Contest

On the first day of 2011 (January 1), Ilonggo pop songstress, Sheila Barrios performed for the production of A Day To Remember Pop Singing Contest. The show started at 7PM and was held at Bo. Obrero Gym in Iloilo City. She performed “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga while Reyn Callao, her Ilonggo 3nity bandmate performed his new dance track for his upcoming solo album “Sang Nakilala Ka.” In the middle of the show, Sheila performed a mash-up of her two Ilonggo hit songs “Ginpalangga” and “Sa Handum Na Guid Lang.”

The event was organized by Ilang-Ilang Youth Organization (IYO) and Bobby Diestro with part of the proceeds of the show will benefit the various socio-civic projects of the organization. The competition featured 8 contestants who undergone screening and audition before the grand finals. Three winners were later declared as winners. Ilonggo Music Awards winner for Best Male Artist, R-nic was one of the board of judges.




Sheila’s 1st Bacolod City Performance@ Capitol Lagoon Park

The Ilonggo pop songstress finally performed for the first time in the city of smiles on the evening December 30, 2010. Sheila Barrios was invited by RMN radio in their post Christmas Variety Show and New Year’s Party at Capitol Lagoon Park in Bacolod City to perform her massively hit Ilonggo songs “Sa Handum Na Guid Lang” and “Ginpalangga.” Released only in November 2010, Sheila’s second single “Sa Handum Na Guid Lang” became the most requested song in iFM Bacolod then followed by other FM stations. These days, her song is massively played everywhere in Bacolod City and has gained a lot of followers. Also in November, she was interviewed and featured in Tukid Negros, the Sunday morning program of RMN together with SYK Unit’s Vhouying King for his hit Ilonggo song “Kadaku Sang Moon.”

With such positive response on her songs, Sheila became the choice Ilonggo music artist to be featured in RMN’s variety show. The show started at 7PM with performances from several other Bacolod-based talents like the impressive display of Beatboxers, Critical Breakdown dance numbers and freeverse rappers. SYK Unit’s Vhouying King and Sayken Snipes from Iloilo City came and performed their hit Ilonggo rap songs “Kadaku Sang Moon,” and “High and Low.” Bacolod-based rap group Filomena Crew composed of Poy 6100, Zaril and Izumi Frias perfomed their latest Ilonggo hit “Una Nga Ginpalangga.” RMN also awarded the winners of Christmas Tree Making Contest sponsored by Swift and participated in by all barangays in Bacolod City.

To the delight of the audience, she performed her special collaboration track with rapper Zaril entitled “Salamat Iloy” for the first time. The song is an emotional tribute to all mothers who are giving unconditional love for their children. It was written and composed by Zaril with Sheila singing the chorus. Then, she performed her newest Ilonggo hit song in Bacolod, “Sa Handum Na Guid Lang” and her first single “Ginpalangga.” With all the positive feedback from the Bacolodnons that evening, this is just the start of Sheila’s performances in Bacolod and Negros. In fact, she’s very much grateful for their impressive support and response. Her debut album is also being arranged to be released first in Bacolod City sometime this year.
